Create In Me A Clean Heart - Psalm 51: 10-16 by Pastor Elizabeth Awmmi

This passage is written by King David when he was in his darkest hours and situation.

  • David loved God and he was called by God as "a man after my own heart."

By this time, he was in a place he shouldn't there. He slept with Uzziah's wife. David knew that he committed sin against God. But he hid from God. He tried to find a way to run away from his sin. So, he planned another agenda which resulted in killing someone.

He committed two big crimes. He felt shy. He forgot to communicate with God. Once he was a good man of God, now hiding himself from God. He didn't repent from his sin.

How about you and me? Do we hid something from God? That sin of our own separate us from God. That can lead us into death - spiritual death.

Now let's turn away from our sin. Don't hid our sin.

David asked in Psalm 51, "God, please give me a clean heart and a new spirit within me. Please don't cast me away from your presence....."

We are all sinner. But Grace is always available for us. Let us repent and come to God. He is there always for us to help us, forgive us.

God is always waiting for us. He called us. God called David through profet Nathan.

David realized and called upon God again. "God, I sin against you, please forgive me." God forgave him right away.

That is the kind of God we have.

Bara in Hebrew word is "to create" in English. Bara is already used in Genesis 1:1. This is the same word used by David. It is not remaking or reshaping an old and broken heart. It is totally a new and clean heart which was never before.

BARA means "creating something out of nothing."

That is the heart that we also need. Are we really ready to return to Jesus? Asking God for forgiveness? There maybe something you have been hiding for so long - anger, gossiping, sin against God ...etc. If we are still hiding it, that will surely kill us ultimately.

God never asks a beautiful life of yours. He asks an ugly, broken, dirty life life of ours. He can wash, clean and use those dirty and broken lives for His glory. Let's give our lives just as it is with honesty.

Matt 9 says, "Come, I will give you rest."

Please, come to God. God is now knocking the heart of our door, calling us to come and confess before Him.
